Jordan: A sample letter follows. Please use the form and talking points provided by the ZOA, or Email letters similar to the sample below to president@whitehouse.gov, and vice.president@whitehouse.gov. Dear [recipient name inserted here], Honorable Sir, Jordan is a dictatorship. Despite its stability relative to other Arab countries in the region, without democracy there is a severe risk that tides will turn drastically. The Jordanian regime has proven to be unreliable. During the 1991 Gulf War, Jordan supported Saddam Hussein. In a time of crisis, there is no way of knowing whose side Jordan will take. Jordan allows Fatah terrorists to operate in its territory. For these serious reasons, I implore you not to sell AMRAAM missiles to Jordan. The security of the region - if not beyond - stands at greater risk should such a sale go through. Sincerely, |
