A recent article that appeared in the Chinese Publication, the People’s Daily, amplifies Palestinian claims that Jewish settlers are poisoning the land prior to evacuation. The article gives absolutely no context for the story, and makes no attempt to interview or represent anyone on the other side. Please send letters to the publisher decrying this shoddy journalism, which is actually thinly veiled propaganda. PA: Israelis Poison Land Before Withdrawal (People's Daily-China) Go to the link above, read the article, and click on Feedback on the left hand column. This will send a letter to the editor. Alternatively, you may click on “comment on this story” at the bottom, to post a message to a discussion-like reader forum. Obviously, the former will get more visibility if published. Do both. Sample Letter: In your recent article Israelis Poison Land Before Withdrawal, the journalist makes no attempt to speak to the Jewish settlers to verify such wild allegations. The is sub-standard journalism. Further, you provide no historical context, which would help the reader to understand that the Palestinians have resorted to exaggerations and outright lies many times in the past (the fabricated “massacre” at Jenin, the IDF “murder” of 12 year old Mohammed al-Durra which turned out to have been done by Palestinian bullets). You simply amplify the Palestinian allegations as if they are fact. The fact is, many settlers are not planning on leaving, and have planted millions of dollars worth of crops for the upcoming year. As a culture that values human life and considers the land of Israel holy, poisoning the land is not a tactic to which Jews would resort. Is there no editorial oversight at the People’s Daily? |
